Relevant organisations, foundations & networks

Knowing what is going on in the literature scene is key to keeping up to track with opportunities and events. It’s a good way to find support, funding and projects to get involved with. Below is my selection of the best organisations and support systems to be aware of.

Arvon Foundation
Avron runs residential creative writing courses which aim to challenge, inspire and transform your writing.

Cyprus Well

Cyprus Well believes in literature for everyone in the South West with a community website to upload events, links, writer and book profiles and more. Cyprus Well also support rural writing projects with their Grass Roots programme.

Spiel Unlimited
Gloucestershire Organisation run by poets Marcus Moore & Sara-Jane Arbury, including newsletters updating people on the artists up and coming shows and residential courses.

Poetry Can
Bristol based organisation with a monthly newsletter packed with events, open mics and workshops taking place in Bristol and Bath.  A mentoring service and advice on touring, as well as an A-Z of South West Poets is also available plus regular regional literature news and resources

Villages in action are a Devon based rural touring scheme that work with the artist to put on rural events. They work with poets such as Matt Harvey. http://www.villagesinaction.co.uk/

Take Art- Rural Somerset based arts charity that Support 30 professional touring companies to put on 113 shows across Somerset.

Arts Matrix- South West Skills development agency providing CPD courses across art forms.
